Commissioned by King Ferdinand II, the Pena Palace was constructed on the ruins of an old monastery and incorporates a mix of architectural styles, including Moorish, Gothic, and Manueline influences. Its vividly painted facades feature a kaleidoscope of colors, making it a visually stunning and iconic landmark.

The palace is surrounded by lush gardens and a vast park, the Parque da Pena, which adds to its picturesque setting.
